Location: Ottavio's Restaurant - 1620 Ventura Blvd., Camarillo, CA 93010

This event is in the past.

In 2016, California voters approved Prop. 57 which authorizes juvenile court judges to determine whether juveniles aged fourteen and older should be prosecuted and sentenced as adults.  WLVC is honored to host Judge Kevin J. McGee, an expert in juvenile law, to discuss the changing landscape in juvenile justice cases, including:

  • Procedural changes implemented under Prop. 57 in juvenile delinquency proceedings

  • Factors taken into account by the court in evaluating whether a juvenile should be prosecuted as an adult

  • Perspectives from the bench on the evolution of the sentencing of minors

  • Reflections on the dynamics of having the court v. prosecution decide whether to try a juvenile as an adult
